Every Dog Needs a Job This is what I live by. I truely believe that the only good dog is a tired dog. This dosen't mean that you need to walk your dog for hours because I can guarantee, you might be tired at the end, but your dog won't be. However, 10 minutes of mental stimulation can equal a 30 minute walk for many dogs. In addition to Agility and Obedience (yes Obedience is a sport), there is also Flyball, Tracking, Heeling to Music, Field Work, Retrieving and Herding to name a few. But you don't need to compete and you don't even need to do any of those activities listed above. Getting your dog to fetch the paper, sit for its meals or find its dish for dinner are examples of jobs your dog can do around the house. |
